Tappistry.Org is a world-wide volunteer association of enthusiasts of the ‘Two-Handed Tapping Method’ to play bass, guitar, and specialty tapping instruments (Chapman Stick, Mobius Megatar, Warr Guitar, Kobayu Board, etc.)

Touch-Style play, also called Two-Handed Tapping means playing a guitar-like instrument by touching the amplified strings to the frets. You can play music with both hands using this method, so it’s like playing bass and guitar at the same time (if you have both bass and guitar strings).

Tappistry.Org has a selection of Articles with how to play music information and interviews. There is also a Resources section with theory, a list of manufacturers and bands, and some music lessons.

The Cantina Song, from the movie Star Wars, is a funny scene with alien musicians as background for Han Solo and a bounty hunter. Here Guillaume Estace plays his version of the “Cantina Theme” from Star Wars on the Chapman Stick. The Stick is a type of specialized electric guitar designed for two-handed tapping. (Some call it ‘finger tapping’ or ‘touchstyle’). He can play bass and melody simultaneously, much like a piano.

This instrument, along with Warr Guitar, and Mobius Megatar, are great fun to play, surprisingly easy to learn quickly (IF you have the right method), and produce some great music.
